MEDIA AND CULTURAL MEMORY

The International Association for Media and History is an organization of filmmakers, broadcasters, archivists and scholars dedicated to historical inquiry into film, radio, television, and related media. It encourages scholarly research into the relations between history and the media as well as the production of historically informed documentaries, television series, and other media texts. It is responsible for an international conference every two years focusing on an aspect of media and history, awards in the field of media and history, and a master class to support postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the field.

This year’s conference takes place on July 6-10, 2011, and is hosted by the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The conference is dedicated to the theme of Media and Cultural Memory and a wide arena of subthemes. Keynote speakers include Professor Richard Howells (King’s College, London) and Stephen Badsey (University of Wolverhampton). A preliminary programme can be found at http://www.iamhist.org/.
